Understanding How Post-Surgical Patients Can Help Relieve Pain and Improve Spinal Functions
Most people are familiar with the main function of the spinal cord – to carry signals from the brain to the entire nervous system in the human body. A spinal cord injury can be very traumatic for everyone, so a personalized rehabilitation program for this type of injury is crucial. At Action Physical Therapy, our primary focus of a rehabilitation treatment is preventing secondary complications, maximizing physical functioning, and reintegrating back into the community. With a reputation in South Florida surpassing large corporate rehabilitation chains, at Action Physical Therapy, we take rehabilitation to another level. It is our goal for each patient to work one on one with a trained medical professional to improve overall quality of life.
Spinal Cord Injury Treatment
The mission at Action Physical Therapy is to provide a comprehensive, effective, and patient-centered rehabilitation program for spinal cord injury to bring the maximum of the recovery process from cognitive, psychological, and physical impairments. Led by our doctors and physical therapists, our clincial team knows how devastating a spinal cord injury can be, so they work collaboratively with every patient and their family to facilitate improvement in a safe and secure environment. Our goal is to help our patients reach their full potential so that they can return to a productive and active lifestyle.
What to Expect with Outpatient Physical Therapy for Spinal Cord Injuries
An Action Physical Therapy member will assess the medical, rehabilitation, and behavioral needs of every patient who suffered a spinal cord injury. We will also establish an individualized goal in consultation with the patient and their family, and then we will design and implement a treatment program that will prepare the condition of the patient for the next phase of the rehabilitation process. The patient’s family is a crucial part of the rehabilitation process which is major reason why we encourage family members to participate in understanding the spinal cord rehabilitation program.
Our spinal cord injury program not only serves those who are newly-injured, but also serves people who experience a late onset complication of their spinal cord injury from the past and are in need of a period of inpatient hospitalization. We enable patients to improve their mobility and function, develop skills to perform everyday activities, utilize adaptive strategies and technologies that facilitate different activities at home and at work, and overcome the social and psychological problems that might interfere with adjustment to their life in the future.
While all patients require rigorous physical therapy, the injuries of recovery are unique to each patient, which is why we always design an individualized plan for every one of our patients. Visit us today and during our first consultation, we will explain everything you need to know about our outpatient spinal cord injury treatment.
